These paintings obviously veer off the path from my main body of work.  But I wanted them on the site (they have not been in the past) because they mean a lot to me.  The pieces came about during a very hard time, many years ago now, when I found myself really digging into the idea of what attracts people to each other - and the complex emotional, psychological, physical and symbolic structures both men and women bring into their views of a relationship.  The figures were to a degree influenced by the work of Tom Wesslemann.  At the same time all of this "exploring" was going on, I wanted to create pieces that were fun, snarky, tongue-in-cheek/wink in the eye pieces with all sorts of little things to discover in them.  It sure seems like these pieces stir some folks up...
